Random Walk Header

On July 8, 2013, in math, website, by admin

You will notice a random walk taking place in the header of my site! The walk was written in Processing, which is a very nice interface for java with some graphics features. Processing.js is a great script which ports Processing code to javascript and allows it to be rendered using an HTML5 Canvas element. This is how I incorporated the walk into the background of the website.

I would in the future like it so that the state of the walk is saved as one browses from page to page, versus it being reloaded every time. If you wait for a while, you will notice that the walk can explore most of the page, though it will disappear behind the elements of the page. I’m very happy with the way this turned out, and with my humble web-programming knowledge, this was quite a feat for me!
